Business Development Manager

This is a new role; the Business Development Manager will support the Onshore Projects business unit by efficiently and effectively implementing Business Development strategy as directed by the General Manager and Commercial Director.

The existing team of Project Managers, Marine and Civil Engineers, Naval Architects and Transport Managers are effective in providing bespoke solutions to customer requirements, in negotiating and managing contracts and in fostering mutually-beneficial long term relations.

The role of the Business Development Manager is to support growth in these areas by identifying new customers, making introductions and obtaining opportunities for the operational team to win and execute work.

The Business Development Manager will be an important link between the Onshore Projects business unit, the Osprey Marketing department and the group’s wider commercial activity.

What you’ll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a Business Development environment, preferably within a relevant industry; this might be shipping, construction, freight forwarding, heavy lift, logistics, transportation or similar.

Experience or exposure to marketing and Customer Relationship Management tools would be beneficial.

A proven track record in B2B Business Development is essential.

This is a customer-facing role, so strong communication and organisational skills are required, together with an ability to build relationships at all levels. This will include customers, colleagues, suppliers and other Osprey business units.

Graduate Engineer

Osprey are looking for energetic engineers to join our team. Osprey is a fast-paced transport and logistics provider working across lifting, land and marine transport fields, finding solutions to our client’s problems. We offer full logistic solutions for the transport of Oil & Gas, Renewables and civil engineering project cargo.

Osprey requires a quick thinking, practical engineers who can help support the team across the full area of operations. The ideal candidate will be a North East based recent or future graduate who has site experience working within ports, harbours, civil construction sites or onboard vessels.

Working within the commercial and operations department the role is to support projects from bid stages to close out through developing novel transportation and lifting solutions for our clients by designing sea fastening, temporary structures and lift arrangements for our range of owned and chartered ships, barges, cranes and SPMTs.

You will be placed into an energetic and diverse team of engineers, mariners and agents who work to tender and execute complex projects effectively for our clients. The role will focus on developing first principal engineering skills with an emphasis on practical considerations relating to fabrication and operational efficiency. The role will allow you to develop your technical and project management skills quickly while creating new and innovative solutions for our client base using our extensive range of equipment.
